Walking through the streets of Vegueta is like going back to the history of the city and stopping in some of its most intense chapters.
The hermitage of Sant’Antonio Abate, Plaza Santa Ana, where the Municipal Palace, the Bishopric, the Royal House and the Santa Ana Cathedral are located, are just a few traces that history has left in these five centuries.
In Vegueta there are museums such as the Colombo House, where you can find out more about the interesting aspects of Cristoforo Colombo’s trip to America and its stay in the city and the Canary Museum, to immerse yourself in the customs of the ancient populations of the island Of Gran Canaria.
Before leaving the Vegueta neighborhood, it is worth a visit to the Guiniguada theater or take a walk to the market, built in 1854.
